With whopping 412 per cent rise in crime against women in Delhi last year portraying a dark picture, Delhi Police Commissioner Bhimsen Bassi on Friday announced a slew of measures, including filing of chargesheet within 20 days of the arrest of accused in rape cases.

In case the chargesheet is not filed within 20 days, the joint commissioner of police will be flagged with a notice; and if the chargesheet is not filed within 30 days from the date of arrest, the special commissioner of police will be served with a notice.

The Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) will tasked to further report the matter to the commissioner.

"To stop crime against women is our first priority. From now on, chargesheet in rape cases must be filed within 20 days," Bassi said during the annual press conference.
