Biography
Saint Polycarp of Smyrna, also known as Polycarpus, was a revered Christian leader and an Apostolic Father during the first half of the second century. He is recognized for his association with, and conversion by, Saint John the Apostle, as well as his friendship with Saint Ignatius of Antioch and Saint Papias.
Polycarp was a disciple of Saint John and became a prominent spiritual teacher, influencing future Church leaders, including Saint Irenaeus of Lyon. Polycarp was born around 69 AD, and he spent his early years in Smyrna, which is present-day Izmir, Turkey.
